The challenge

When a charity grows rapidly, it can be an exciting time – but also overwhelming. Growth often brings new opportunities to reach more people and make a bigger impact, but it also creates added complexity behind the scenes. Whether it’s hiring staff,  keeping up with legal requirements, or handling day-to-day operations – it can quickly stretch resources to their limit.

The challenge

When a business grows rapidly, it can be exciting – but also overwhelming. Growth brings a host of new challenges: hiring staff, managing stock, pressures on cash flow, legal and compliance risks, and operational strain.

For Izzy, it also meant being swamped with financial admin – from bookkeeping and quarterly VAT submissions to monthly payroll and her annual self-assessment. It was simply too much to manage alone, without proper, dedicated support.

By taking over The Lewis Foundation’s accounting tasks, Cottons lifted the burden of financial management from its shoulders — freeing the team to focus on what they do best: delivering comfort and support to adult cancer patients.
