Double honours for Cottons at the Accounting Excellence Awards

by | Oct 27, 2025

What a year it’s been for Cottons Group! Fresh from being named Xero’s Large Firm of the Year 2025, we’ve now scooped up Silver for Tax Team of the Year and Bronze for Mid-Tier Firm of the Year at the Accounting Excellence Awards.

The awards night brought together some of the best names in the industry, so to come away with two national titles (and shortlisted for a third – Employer of the Year) is something we’re seriously proud of.

It’s especially exciting for our Tax Team, who’ve achieved this recognition just a year after coming together under Tax Partner, Luke Prout, and Tax Director, Joanne Surley. Since joining Cottons in 2024, they’ve built a strong and growing department, helping clients with everything from corporate restructures and R&D claims to detailed personal tax planning.

Luke Prout summed it up perfectly:

“It’s extraordinary how far we’ve come in such a short time. We’ve built a strong, skilled team that clients can rely on for complex tax advice delivered clearly and confidently. This national recognition is a real credit to the hard work, collaboration, and care the whole team puts in every day.”

It’s not just the firm getting recognised either – another Partner, Charles Hill, was recently named in Accountancy Age’s 35 Under 35 list, celebrating rising stars in the profession.

We’re excited to keep that momentum going into 2026.
